[News] Changes to 2022 AEIS-Primary English

On 21st April 2022, the Ministry of Education (MOE) of Singapore announced changes to its upcoming 2022 Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) for entry into primary schools.

The English AEIS examination will no longer be offered to international students seeking entry into MOE primary schools. Instead of completing the original English AEIS examination, students are now required to take the relevant Cambridge English Qualification (CEQ) test run by Cambridge Assessment English (CAE), and meet or exceed the required Cambridge English Scale (CES) scores before they register for the AEIS-Primary Mathematics test.

The Cambridge English Qualification is a standardised English examination conducted by Cambridge, accepted by schools and institutions worldwide. Find out more about them here.

The test must be taken within 12 months before the month of submission of their AEIS application. If the student is applying for the July 2022 AEIS, they must have taken the CEQ test in or after August 2021.

Below are the requirements international students have to meet to register for the AEIS-Primary Mathematics test.

*The international student must generally be of the age listed below as at 1 January in the year of admission.

These changes are immediate, and will apply for the 2022 AEIS examinations. Applications for the 2022 AEIS will start from July 2022.

There is no change in format for the AEIS-Secondary tests.
